Our Story

The Jewish Coalition for Berkeley (JCOB) was founded in response to the antisemitism that flared up after the attacks on Oct  7. The Coalition’s response to the intense hatred of Israel and of Jews was to demonstrate the resilience and strength of the local Jewish community. JCOB grew quickly to a list of over 400 people, ranging from those who felt isolated and in need of mutual support to those who wanted to work and take action against antisemitism in our town, whether in politics, schools, or on the streets.

JCOB prides itself in having strong relationships with all of Berkeley’s synagogues and with the JCC East Bay. We work with the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and the Jewish Community Federation (JCF).

JCOB partners with grassroots Jewish groups across the Bay Area, including the Oakland Jewish Alliance (OJA) and the Bay Area Jewish Coalition (BAJC).

JCOB is able to receive tax-deductible donations via the Bay Area Center to Counter Antisemitism (BACCA)
